Congrats to you!  Losing weight is truly a hero’s journey…it’s something that requires a great amount of personal determination and effort.  Having lost 45+ pounds myself, I certainly know from where you are coming!

Starting a blog is very very easy.  You can either choose to grab a free blogging platform at

and begin that way, or choose your own domain name and go about installing a blog on your own site.

It’s that simple.

One thing to remember is never let fear stop you from starting out!  You might be thinking, who am I to write…I’d like to ask you,

"Who are you NOT to write??"

Your own diet and losing weight journey is special and personal…and if you want to share it, you’ll probably help lots of other people on their own personal quests as well.

Some of my favorite diet/fitness blogs include:

Once you have started a blog, however, you need to protect it.  There are lots of baddies out there online who will want to spam your blog until the cows come home!

To protect it, you can install anti-spam plugins.   Here’s what I use - simply visit the sites, download the plugins to your local computer, upload them to your site and turn them on.  Need help with that?  Check out my post How to Soup up Your Blog.

1.)  Recaptcha.  Excellent tool that makes the commenter type in two words prior to submitting a comment.  Gets rid of autobot postings.

2.)  Bad Behavior.  Wondrous plugin that kills spambots before they even get to your blog.

3.)  Spam Karma 2.  Multiple language support too!

4.)  Askimet.   It comes bundled with Wordpress; you will need a Wordpress API key to activate it.  Get it, do it, activate it and be glad it’s on your site; it will really help decrease the spam.

5.)  Use a timestamp to reduce spam.  Spambots can comment more rapidly than people.  This plugin helps determine how quickly a post was made…and if it’s obviously by a robot,  blocks it.

6.)  Simple Spam Catcher.  This plugin implements rather simple tests and proceeds to reject blatant spam.  It’s a great addon.

7.)  Fake Comment Form!  Visible only to spambots.

8.)  Simple Trackback Evaluation.  This plugin verifies the trackback IP address, ensuring it’s the same as the URL referrer.

9.)  Math Comment Spam Protection.  Make commenters answer a math question, preferably NOT 3 divided by 0.

10.)  Add Recaptcha to your Word Press Login.  Nice simple plugin that halts spam user account creations.

Once all these goodies are installed and activated…chances are, your blog will be much easier to maintain.  Let me know how it works out!

ThankYouVeryMuch!
