Latest way to screw up your system - the Lemon Diet!

May 10th, 2008

Morning!  This just in:

…So have a whole day eating lots of natural foods which will aid the detox process, along with water to help the draining process and eliminate toxins.

Boost the cleansing process by drinking glasses of lemonade at room temperature throughout the day. To make your lemonade, mix 2tbsp freshly-squeezed lemon juice, 300ml filtered water and either 2 tsp quality (Grade B) organic maple syrup or a stick of cinnamon and a pinch of Cayenne pepper. You can also drink herbal or fruit tea and home-made vegetable soup. …MORE….

Why people have NOT A CLUE that detox diets remove water weight at the least and needed nutrients at the most… a clue, I have not one.

P90x - Discount codes, savings, even free and more

April 27th, 2008

Morning!

Long long ago (okay, 5 months ago), I invested in P90x for less than retail like so:

See all those great savings?  I got them on eBay!

Did you know that you DON’T have to buy P90x at their official site?  It’s true!  I saved a bundle myself by going the eBay route, not only for the actual 13 P90x DVDs but also for the P90x chinup bar too.

And here’s how I did it.

Step 1 - Search for p90x.

Visit eBay and search for

You can also search for

You see, many people are authorized P90x sellers…and they in turn can sell the product on eBay.  But not only that - people who buy it might decide it’s not for them…and try to sell their P90x copy themselves on eBay.

Next, consider

Step 2 - Search on Amazon.

Did you know that many customers review P90x?  Here’s what some people write…and you’ll also see the New and Used copies available at a discount as well.

Step 3 - Check out FreeCycle

True, I came up empty with this….but hey, you never know!  Visit your local Freecycle and post your WANT ad.  Who knows, someone might realize they’ve been considering getting rid of their P90x months ago…and send you a followup note.

Other ideas you can consider include:

  • Putting up a WANTED sign in your local gym’s bulletin board
  • Putting up a WANTED sign in your local library’s bulletin board
  • Seeing if your local library carries a copy

Hope the above is useful for you!

Enjoy,

Owlbert

DASH Diet - common sense weight loss actually works.

April 15th, 2008

It never ceases
to amaze me that plain simple common sense gains such popularity in the dieting and weight loss work.  To wit:

A large study offers the strongest evidence yet that a diet the government recommends for lowering blood pressure can save people from heart attack and stroke.

Researchers followed more than 88,000 healthy women for 24 years. They examined their food choices and looked at how many had heart attacks and strokes. Those who fared best had eating habits similar to those recommended by the government to stop high blood pressure.

The plan, called the DASH diet, favors fruits, vegetables, whole grains, low-fat milk and plant-based protein over meat.

Women with those eating habits were 24 percent less likely to have a heart attack and 18 percent less likely to have a stroke than women with more typical American diets.

Those are meaningful reductions since the diseases are so common. About 2 in 5 U.S. women at age 50 will eventually develop cardiovascular disease, which includes heart attacks and strokes. Women in the study were in their mid-30s to late 50s when the research began in 1980.

Previous research has shown this kind of diet can help prevent high blood pressure and cholesterol, which both can lead to heart attacks ….MORE….

Can someone kindly explain to me just why this is news?

I mean, let’s get serious here a weeee bit.   Eat clean and stay healthy.  Well now….DUH!

And this is now news all over the freakin’ place.  You can read:

Having lost 50 pounds myself in 16 months, all I have to say is…..HELLO!  THIS IS COMMON SENSE, PEOPLES!!!!!

And alas….it’s one reason why the diet/fitness industry will never lack for customers. :(

Enjoy,

Owlbert

If you’re a Turbo Jam fan, you probably know all about the great goodies Charlene offers to one and all.  But did you know you can uncover Turbo Jam discounts to boot?  Here’s how!

1.)  Check out eBay for Turbo Jam.

Sometimes people will buy Turbo Jam…and then decide, okay, it’s not for them.  In that case, they’ll look to sell it again on eBay.  Look for yourself - you can see some great deals here.

Diet, fitness and preventing dementia

April 5th, 2008

BelliesYou know, lately it seems like EVERYTHING can prevent dementia from diet to fitness to coffee to…you only have to check out the news to see what’s the latest cure.

Today, I want to direct you to:

….That Buddha belly makes your jeans tight.

That paunch gets in the way when you bend over for the change in the candy machine.

And now a new study warns that a large belly in midlife could raise our risk of dementia when we’re old.

The study, begun in the 1960s, concluded that people who were both obese and had a big belly were three times more likely to be diagnosed with dementia in their 70s and 80s than those of normal weight and belly size.

And, because the dementia risk nearly doubled in people who were considered a healthy weight but had large waists, researchers concluded that it matters where you carry your weight …..MORE….

Now, if you’re blogging about diet or fitness, the above article would be a great source for you to write about your achievements and ideas and goals etc.   Remember, one of the easiest ways to blog is to find something human-interest that relates to your topic…and then draw your readers in by your own story-telling.

Here are more resources for this particular discovery:

Hope the above is useful.

Making money with your diet and fitness blog - Google Adsense

March 25th, 2008

AdsenseMorning!

Have you ever visited a blog and see those cute little Ads by Google on them?

The good news for those happy blog owners is, when such ads are clicked, they get money.  Joy!

The bad news for those unhappy blog owners is, the diet/fitness niche doesn’t really deliver a whole big huge sweeping amount of moola.  Mesothelioma, now, that’s huge, as is DWI driving in Texas ads….but diet and fitness?  Nope, not by a long shot.  Still, you WILL get Read the rest of this entry »
